Principal's Message
 Welcome to Silver Gate. The staff and I are excited to begin the new school year and look forward to working closely with each of our families. We are proud of our community of learners-a community made up of energetic students, professional staff, and involved parents. We are all committed to working together for the success of all our children. I encourage you to become involved-check your calendars, and attend meetings and events, volunteer in the classroom, and talk to your child about school experiences. Your support promotes excellence and an even more positive experience.Silver Gate is a wonderful and unique place. We are committed to providing all students with an enriched educational program, encouraging all children to reach their fullest potential and become lifelong learners. Our balanced literacy program includes reading, writing, and speaking. We also create dramatic productions to extend the learning. Our mathematics program includes calculating, reasoning, and estimating. Our programs are rigorous and standards-based, promoting thinking that extends beyond memorization. Teachers and staff members are committed to knowing each student as a learner and as a person. Individual conferences and tailored instruction occur every day in every classroom. The result is that our learners become problem solvers ready to take on real-world challenges. Silver Gate is a beautiful campus, including a new 2,000 square foot library, an ecological science laboratory, and a computer lab with all new computer and video equipment. All of our classrooms have been recently upgraded with new carpeting, paint, and wiring. Our Friends of Silver Gate (FSG) have been instrumental in supporting our enrichment programs and classrooms. Our FSG and parents volunteer in the classrooms, work to provide fun and enriching activities, and raise funds to support our Eco and Computer Lab programs. FSG is planning many exciting activities that are fun for the whole family. It's a rare school that can offer your family the sense of community the way that we do. While our academic progress is at the heart of all our goals, we never lose sight of the joy that should accompany learning. We hope that you will join us for many of the special events that we have planned throughout the year. The staff and I extend a warm welcome. We are excited to begin the new school year and look forward to building relationships with all of you. Community involvement and parent support are key elements to the success here at Silver Gate. We encourage you to seek ways to become involved, and collaborate with our entire staff to ensure the success of our children. Silver Gate is committed to providing all students with an enriched educational program, encouraging all children to reach their fullest potential. While being sensitive to the emotional needs of our growing children, a strong academic focus leads our work, ensuring that all of our students reach their fullest potentials. A critical element to a successful school is communication. During the course of the year you may have questions or concerns regarding your child’s progress. Your primary relationship with the school is through your child’s classroom teacher. We encourage you to make contact with your child’s teacher whenever you have a concern. I will be in the classrooms every morning supporting the learning in our classrooms. If you would like time to discuss any concerns with me, please plan for the afternoon hours.
